Old

It’s said that it’s best to start at the beginning… I come from an immensely practical and artistic family. My parents, both brought up in war time, taught me to make, do and mend. I’ve always enjoyed creativity and have an inherent love of the aesthetic. It’s funny but now that I think about it I’ve been throwing pots on and off for quite some time. I was lucky to go to a school that embraced the arts and sciences in equal measure. I’d always been torn between the two, but creativity won over and so started my love affair with graphic design (unfinished).

So, first a short spell of throwing at school, followed by a number of years of pottery evening classes at Hackney Community College, whilst working full-time as designer director at Crescent Lodge. My tutor was called Steve and I wish I could remember his surname. It was a wonderful time of discovery, in that he let us get on with it. I had an epiphany and the pots started coming.

Here are a few of the better ones…
