Look what arrived yesterday evening! I can’t contain my excitement.

Now I just have to wait patiently for the electrician to come and convert it to single phase and wire it in. I’m desperately hoping that it won’t be too complicated – the helpful guys at Cromartie say that it shouldn’t be. I must say that she’s bigger than the new one I had planned to buy, but fate intervened and sent her my way because of her previous owner closing up shop. We’re thinking of naming her Ceti (short for Cetacea which is the latin classification for whales!) or maybe Bertha. I’ll let you know how we get along.

  1. How exciting! I am saving up my pennies for a bigger kiln next year 😉 Has this one got a controller? – that’s the thing I would like as well as increased capacity of course. I look forward to hearing how you get on. A sound investment 🙂

    • Hi Debbie, yes it has a controller. I’ve yet to read the instructions but by all accounts once it’s set up and calibrated it’s supposed to be very straightforward to fire. Fingers crossed. It’s also a sectional kiln, so it comes apart very easily. Made getting it through our old, narrow doorways very simple.

      • Hi Juliet, Yes I thought it had sections. Perfect! That’s just the sort of thing I need. A bigger kiln would mean more space as I’m falling over myself now. I’ll just have to be patient. I’m green with envy. Have fun 🙂

      • Skutt and L&L do good sectional kilns, Debbie. To be honest I wasn’t planning on getting this make of kiln but a friend saw it for sale second-hand on Facebook. It was just down the road, so meant to be I like to think. Check gumtree and preloved as they often have used kilns for sale… but generally at the wrong end of the country for me. But, you may already be doing that.
